Writing - in the Cemetery

  • Oak Hill Cemetery 2560 Baseline Avenue Solvang, CA, 93463 United States (map)

With deepest respect for our resident hosts during this auspicious season. When the veil becomes thin between worlds, awakening what we might not be able to see, yet can feel and express through art. We meet at the structure in the center, then mindfully walk through the path to an open grass with blankets, pillows and treats (and tricks ;))

Release, reclaim and share words and wisdom, where storytelling becomes medicine. We begin with a somatic practice—breath, movement, stillness—to relax the inner critic, calm the nervous system, and open the door to your authentic voice. From this embodied presence, creativity expands and perspectives shift. You’ll discover new meaning in lived experience while coloring in the details of your dreams. Guided toward a sutra—a simple strand of wisdom—you’ll receive a writing prompt that sparks the page. Here, there is no right or wrong. You simply write from the heart, creating art that is unedited, unfiltered, raw, and real. Sharing is an invitation, never an obligation. When words are spoken aloud, we listen for strengths, reflecting only the beauty of the work. In this safe container, creativity is nurtured without judgment. We honor each voice, notice how the words speak to one another, and witness the ways our inner landscapes weave common themes. Confidence grows—on the page and in life.

Together, we remember what it means to belong—to ourselves, to each other, and to the greater thread of humanity. Come, share your words and wisdom, and help co-create this living masterpiece.
